LONDON WORKPLACE PHOTOGRAPHER
I have been privileged to produce photography for some of the world’s most innovative and award-winning workplace design projects, helping my clients showcase their designs’ functionality, aesthetics, and seamless integration of lighting, layout, and materials. Attention to detail is critical, as every element, from furniture placement to natural and artificial light interplay, needs to be carefully addressed. Supplemental lighting and sophisticated post-production techniques can be used to achieve a stand-out polished look. For larger projects where time on location is of the essence, a scout day can be beneficial for prioritising the best angles and creating a powerful shot list. Models can also be strategically placed in the shots to showcase the interior design being in use. It is very rewarding to take all the challenging aspects of workplace photography and translate them into perfectly balanced, rich, and inviting images that go beyond typical workplace photography.

SHOWCASING THE HUMAN ELEMENT
Workplace photography offers the flexibility to showcase spaces with and without people, each approach serving unique purposes. Capturing the space without occupants highlights the design’s architectural integrity and ensures no visual distractions, offering clean, polished images. On the other hand, including people brings the space to life, demonstrating how it is used and creating a relatable, dynamic narrative. I’ve developed a seamless formula for capturing both styles in every session, allowing clients to present their workspace as a pure design showcase or as a vibrant, functional environment. This dual approach ensures optimal results tailored to various branding and marketing needs.
ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION SCOUTING
A recce (location scouting) is crucial in successful photography, especially for large or complex projects. While smaller shoots can often be planned effectively with floor plans and a few site snapshots, a recce allows for a deeper understanding of the space. It ensures alignment on creative and logistical priorities. For example, working with Gensler, we conducted a thorough recce to explore all possible angles of interest for their project. This pre-shoot session enabled the team to craft a precise shot list, saving time on the shoot day and allowing us to focus purely on execution.
Recce sessions are particularly beneficial when time on location is limited. By identifying key areas and perspectives in advance, the client and photographer can feel prepared, reducing stress and ensuring the project’s goals are met efficiently. While it may not always be feasible due to budget, access, or time constraints, a recce can transform complex shoots into smooth, highly organized experiences, providing peace of mind and delivering results that align with the client’s vision.
EXPERT POST-PRODUCTION IN WORKPLACE PHOTOGRAPHY
Post-production is essential for crafting polished, high-end images in workplace interiors and architectural photography. It transforms raw captures into larger-than-life visuals, emphasizing textures, details, colours, and depth in a complementary and refined way.
To achieve a harmonious balance, a meticulous process involves blending light layers, including natural light, practical interior lighting, and supplemental flash lighting. This often requires compositing multiple exposures—sometimes up to 30 images—each contributing its best elements to the final photograph. The final image achieves a polished and cohesive look through careful light sculpting and consistent adjustments.
Beyond lighting, distractions like blemishes, sprinklers, reflections or other unwanted elements are removed to ensure the design shines without interruption. Colour correction also plays a pivotal role in resolving issues such as colour casts from mixed lighting sources—like cool daylight mingling with warm interior lights. By adjusting tones and hues, the integrity of the design's palette is preserved, ensuring accurate and visually appealing results.
This expert post-production process ensures the creation of consistent, visually stunning images that highlight the best aspects of any space, making them an indispensable tool for architects, designers, and brands.
