Olga Ashby Interiors - Boutique Hotel Project
Project Description:
Tenuta Negroamaro, a boutique hotel in Puglia, Italy, offers a serene indoor-outdoor living experience with ten rooms spread across nearly 10 acres. Olga Ashby designed the hotel's aesthetic, blending rustic and refined elements using natural materials like Pietra Leccese stone and travertine. Earthy tones and handcrafted pieces from global artisans, including Moroccan textiles and vintage African furniture, create a welcoming, tactile atmosphere. Vaulted ceilings, private gardens, and pools enhance the peaceful, home-like feel. At the same time, local artwork, such as a mural inspired by regional cacti, adds a cultural touch to the tranquil retreat.
The Shoot:
Shooting this project with Olga was a gratifying experience, as I have a deep appreciation for boutique hotel design, and this one was truly unique in its aesthetics and atmosphere. The three-day-and-a-half shoot took place during the intense summer heat, where we strongly relied on fresh, icy orange juice to stay cool and composed, especially during outdoor shots. We also produced several bite-size social media videos, adding depth to the project's visuals. We had a lot of ground to cover, but we managed it well, ending each day with relaxing dinners at local restaurants to rest and enjoy the local cuisine. Staying at the hotel overnight allowed me to experience its serene vibe, waking up inspired every day for the following shots. Post-production was simple yet essential to ensure consistency and warmth to represent the feel of the hotel. The resulting images were widely published, contributing to the hotel’s success and a testament to Olga’s brilliant design and vision.
