Olga Ashby Interiors - Boutique Hotel Project

Project Description:

Tenuta Negroamaro, a boutique hotel in Puglia, Italy, offers a serene indoor-outdoor living experience with ten rooms spread across nearly 10 acres. Olga Ashby designed the hotel’s aesthetic, blending rustic and refined elements with natural materials such as Pietra Leccese stone and travertine.

Earthy tones and handcrafted pieces from global artisans, including Moroccan textiles and vintage African furniture, create a welcoming, tactile atmosphere. Vaulted ceilings, private gardens, and pools enhance the peaceful, home-like feel, while local artwork, such as a mural inspired by regional cacti, adds a cultural layer to the tranquil retreat.

The Shoot:

Shooting this project with Olga was a genuinely rewarding experience, as I have a strong appreciation for boutique hotel design, and this one stood out for its atmosphere and attention to detail. The three-and-a-half-day shoot took place during intense summer heat, where we relied heavily on fresh, icy orange juice to stay focused, particularly during the outdoor sessions. Projects like this, centred around hospitality environments, benefit from spending time within the space to fully understand its rhythm and character.

We had a lot of ground to cover, moving between interiors, exteriors, and landscaped areas. Alongside the photography, we produced a series of short-form video clips, adding another layer to the way the project could be experienced. Staying at the hotel allowed me to fully immerse myself in the space, observing how it shifts from morning through to evening, which naturally influenced how each area was captured.

Post-production was intentionally subtle, focusing on consistency, warmth, and maintaining the natural feel of the space. The final images reflect the hotel's calm, tactile quality, capturing its atmosphere from the perspective of a London-based interior photographer working across boutique hospitality projects.
