House Of Sui Sui - The Tea House
Project Description:
The Tea House project is a remarkable fusion of Indian and Japanese aesthetics inspired by the clients' cultural heritage and love for tea rituals. The design, led by Melissa Bolivar of House of Sui Sui Interiors, transformed a former artist's studio in Central London into a contemporary home filled with character. Original features like subway tiles and double-height ceilings were preserved, while new elements, including bespoke joinery and de Gournay artwork, seamlessly integrated the opulence of Indian traditions with the minimalism of Japanese design. The result is a space that embodies love, culture, and timeless beauty, blending bold colours and natural materials to create a serene yet dynamic environment.
The Shoot:
I absolutely loved shooting this project with Melissa. It was one of my favourite projects aesthetically, and the entire shoot was completed in one day. We were fortunate to have beautiful natural light, with the perfect morning sun enhancing the space. I used natural and additive fill lighting to highlight the depth and textures, minimize reflections, and elevate the images further in post-production by blending layers seamlessly. The result was a set of images that truly captured the essence of the design, which led to the project being successfully published in multiple major magazines—a true success for my client.
