Star Alliance - CDG Airport Lounge

Project Description:

The Star Alliance lounge at Charles de Gaulle Airport, designed by Gensler’s Newport Beach and Paris offices, blends Parisian charm with contemporary sophistication. With a black, grey, and gold palette, the 1,300-square-metre space exudes elegance while incorporating local touches like parquet floors, Parisian mouldings, and custom upholstery. The lounge is thoughtfully segmented into distinct areas, including a champagne bar, a brightly lit Tea Salon, a private business zone, and a winter garden. Artistic elements, vibrant colours, and sleek, functional design create a luxurious, multi-faceted experience for travellers, catering to relaxation, privacy, and wellness in an upscale, Paris-inspired setting.

The Shoot:

I was thrilled to be commissioned to photograph the Star Alliance lounge at Paris CDG, designed by the renowned Gensler with exquisite French craftsmanship. It was a long, well-planned shoot, though we faced logistical challenges, including ongoing finishing work and coordinating with a 360 photographer. After 14 hours, countless coffees, and macaroons, we achieved exceptional results. Working closely with The Secret Little Agency, who oversaw the shoot, we meticulously crafted a shot list from our recce the day before to know precisely which angles we would capture. We also shot video clips for their social media campaign to add another dimension to this beautiful project launch. Post-production was crucial to highlight the lounge’s high-end feel, ensuring every detail, from lighting to windows, was perfectly balanced. The experience was a testament to the power of teamwork, and it solidified my love for commercial architecture photography.
