Fare-Inc. - Kolamba Restaurant
Project Description:
Kolamba East, located in London’s Spitalfields, offers a refined take on the design of the brand’s first site in Soho. The interiors blend rough plaster, industrial brickwork, and tropical timbers, creating a warm and inviting space. A central feature is the bustling bar, framed by an Oasis Green marble floor, adding an elevated touch to the design. Elements of Sri Lankan culture, such as batik fabrics and handcrafted furniture, are seamlessly integrated, creating a space that honours both tradition and modern design.
The Shoot:
Working with the Fare-Inc team on this project was a fantastic experience. Despite challenges like the late arrival of dining chairs and shooting during the restaurant's preparation for the soft opening, we stayed efficient and strategic with our shooting schedule. The restaurant’s moody lighting and rich materials were key, and I used a combination of practical and supplemental lighting to capture that atmosphere. In post-production, I focused on enhancing the layered lighting and textures, ensuring the final images highlighted the restaurant's unique mood. The result was a set of images the designers were thrilled to share, highlighting their beautiful work. I truly enjoy photographing hospitality spaces, where design and mood come together to create an unforgettable experience.
