Matthew Nunn Designs - Luxury Home Bar
Project Description:
This luxury home bar features a striking mix of high-end materials and craftsmanship. It showcases a Patagonia onyx stone from Brazil, paired with a sleek, one-piece Corian bar top integrated with a lightbox. Black figured eucalyptus joinery doors with brass inlay and custom antique mirrors add a refined edge to the space.
The Venetian plaster ceiling, acoustic fabric walls, and seamless automation system enhance both aesthetics and functionality, creating an opulent and fully bespoke environment. Every detail is meticulously handmade, emphasising the bar’s highly tailored and design-led character.
The Shoot:
The shoot was both exciting and technically demanding due to the extremely dark interiors, which required a precise lighting approach to preserve the atmosphere while still revealing the craftsmanship. Projects like this, where interior design is shaped by strong architectural detailing and material depth, demand a more controlled and deliberate setup.
Relying purely on practical lighting would have flattened the space, while supplemental lighting was often absorbed by the darker finishes, meaning each scene had to be carefully built up in layers. This required a more strategic approach, working gradually to shape the light and maintain depth across the compositions.
With enough time on site, the process remained focused, allowing each frame to be refined properly. In post-production, multiple exposures were blended to enhance clarity while preserving the mood. The final images capture the richness and intensity of the space, reflecting a more detailed approach to interior design photography in London, particularly within darker, high-end residential environments.
