Fletcher Priest Architects - Littledown House
Project Description:
Littledown House, reimagined by Fletcher Priest Architects, is a distinctive workplace set within a historic building rich in character and architectural heritage. Moving away from the conventions of contemporary office design, the project embraces its period features, allowing original details to define the space’s identity.
A carefully curated palette of colours, textures, and finishes introduces a refined yet expressive atmosphere, balancing the building’s historic fabric with a modern workplace sensibility. The result is a unique environment that feels both grounded in its past and thoughtfully adapted for present-day use. It stands apart from typical workplace interiors, offering a more layered and characterful experience.
The Shoot:
This project marked my first collaboration with Fletcher Priest Architects, with the clear intention of elevating the visual language beyond typical workplace photography and creating something more refined and atmospheric. Shot over two full days, it offered a rewarding challenge, capturing a space that differs significantly from more conventional office environments. Working within a workplace setting like this required a more considered approach to composition and mood.
We photographed the space both with and without people, ultimately focusing on the imagery without people to allow the design itself to take centre stage. From the first moment I saw the project, I was drawn to its character, colour palette, and architectural presence, and this approach felt like the most authentic way to showcase it. Travelling to Bournemouth, we spent several days on location with a welcoming and passionate team, and the winter setting added a quiet, atmospheric quality to the exterior images.
Given the darker time of year and the depth of the interiors, I used supplemental lighting to carefully shape each composition, enhancing the natural feel while maintaining clarity and balance. Post-production focused on refining that balance, ensuring consistency across the set while preserving depth, colour, and tonal quality. The final images capture the character of the space in a more atmospheric, design-led way, reflecting my approach as a London-based interior photographer working across workplace and architectural projects.
