Olga Ashby Interiors - The City Sanctuary

Project Description:

This meditative London apartment, designed by Olga Ashby, blends sophistication and simplicity through its fluid, curvy design and earthy, neutral palette. Originally a plain open-plan cube, it was transformed into a serene inner-city sanctuary using natural materials like wood, linen, and micro-cement.

Curves and arches throughout the space create a calming, harmonious atmosphere, with features like circular mirrors and bespoke furniture enhancing the flow. Every detail, from vintage artefacts to sustainably sourced décor, contributes to a space that feels like a peaceful refuge in the heart of the city.

The Shoot:

Working with Olga, my first interior design client and now a close friend, has been an incredible journey, and this project marked a significant milestone for both of us. The shoot took place over multiple days, allowing us to carefully refine each composition and capture the space at its best. Projects like this, where interior design is closely tied to spatial transformation and architectural intervention, benefit from that level of attention and time.

Alongside the photography, we also produced video content, ensuring the project could be experienced across multiple formats. Our collaboration has developed into a very intuitive process over time, with a shared understanding of composition, detail, and timing that allows everything to come together naturally on set.

The project went on to gain significant traction, resurfacing online over an extended period and being featured in major publications worldwide, including print covers in Elle Decoration and AD. The final imagery captures the design's calm, sculptural quality, reflecting my approach to interior photography in London, particularly in design-led residential spaces.
