Bergman Design House - Royal Home At Albert Hall
Project Description:
This luxurious pied-à-terre in Knightsbridge, designed by Bergman Design House, reimagines the timeless elegance of Albert Hall Mansions, a Grade II-listed building by architect Richard Norman Shaw. Located steps from the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, and Kensington Palace, the three-bedroom apartment blends Victorian grandeur with modern sophistication, creating a serene retreat for its royal owners.
Designer Marie Soliman Berglund artfully balanced masculine and feminine elements, combining rich materials like Breccia Capraia marble and intricately patterned woodwork with bespoke lighting and contemporary interpretations of classic motifs. Deep royal blues, earthy tones, and textures like Sahara Noir marble architraves evoke a sense of calm while celebrating the building’s 19th-century craftsmanship.
Highlights include a dining room with blue monolithic marquetry walls and a Fusion Explosion marble powder room that introduces a dramatic contrast. The master bedroom, a standout space, features a robust headboard, sculptural sconces, and serene views of the Royal Albert Hall. The apartment is a strong example of quiet luxury, merging heritage with refined modern living.
The Shoot:
The shoot for this Knightsbridge pied-à-terre lasted two days, with one day dedicated to stills and another focused on capturing social media video content to support the project’s wider publication. Working with Marie Soliman Berglund is always a pleasure; her work consistently brings a strong sense of identity and detail, making each project visually rewarding. Projects like this, set within historically significant architecture, require a careful balance between documenting original features and showcasing contemporary interventions.
The photography combined natural light with controlled flash to maintain consistency throughout the apartment, particularly given the rich material palette. This approach allowed the textures, finishes, and detailing to come through clearly while preserving the intended atmosphere of each space.
Post-production refined that balance further, ensuring cohesion across the full set and enhancing the depth of materials and tones. The final images present the project with clarity and precision, reflecting my approach to interior photography London for high-end residential interiors.
